Presentations

Each group is responsible for a 15 minute presentation on their chosen topic. Dates for presentations are given in the table. The presentation should include a description of the topic, it's role in London as a financial center, and an evaluation of how it may contribute to the future of London as a financial center. Take, for example, the topic of monetary policy. You should describe how monetary policy works in the UK, why it's important for a financial center, and if the course of monetary policy is likely to change in the near future. On the topic of Lloyds, you should give a brief history of Lloyds, describe what Lloyds does and why it's important, why this service is offered in London, and how Lloyds contributes to London as a financial center.

Assignments

The success of the course is dependent on the collaboration of all of you. Each student will be responsible for creating the content in one of the sections of the wiki book. At the end of the course, if successful, we will have created a source for information about London as a global center and as a destination for Tippie students. I encourage you to incorporate pictures, observations, and information that you obtain while touring in London into the site. I also encourage you to analyze critically the posts of your other students. Do their arguments make sense? Are they accurate? Is the data factual?

Wiki content pages

Each group of students is responsible for one section of the wiki. In addition, each student is responsible for providing editing advice on two other sections.

Wiki travel pages

Each student is required to create three posts on the travel advice and commentary pages.

Attendance

Attendance at all events is mandatory. Each unexcused absence will reduce your grade by 1/3 of a letter grade. Due to the nature of group travel, we really need everyone to be on time. As an additional incentive, lateness of more than 10 minutes will reduce your grade by 1/3 of a letter grade.

Grades

Grades are based on participation (30%), content page contributions (30%), content editing (20%) and observation posts (20%). Participation includes group work, assignments, and attendance at all events.
