Description

We hooked ICON up to the campus Active Directory system to enable HawkID authentication.

This required a rewrite of the vendor's LDAP authentication module; Iowa has a somewhat unique setup to support HawkIDs from multiple domains. These changes were eventually rolled in to the vendor's standard LDAP module, as the added flexibility was thought to be potentially useful for other institutions.

A later addition was the Single Sign-On gateway attached to http://login.uiowa.edu . The gateway allows HawkID users to transfer directly to ICON from other systems, such as HRIS.
