A Basket of Fun Fest
Project Summary
Last summer's flood washes in the fun this summer! Come join us on June 13th behind the IMU and Art buildings on the IU campus, for the Basket of Fun Fest. The day's events will include; local artisan booths, a family picnic by the river, water games, art activities, and a bike race for the kids. A BBQ will be held in the evening, followed by a family movie. A late night movie will conclude the day's events. Admission is free! Vendors open at 10 am. Picnic baskets will be sold, but don't forget your blanket. Volunteers welcome!

Iowa City, IA---March 1st release date
We are one of the finalists of the UIdea project, and the founding members of the SFCC, Student Flood Commemoration Committiee working to commemorate the flood of '08.The event will be held on the East and West sides of the river behind the IMU and Theatre and Art buildings. The event is to be held on the 15th of June from 10am to midnight. The festival will include; a picnic, kids games, art venders, a BBQ, and late night movies. The admission is free. However, picnic baskets can be purchased containing packed lunches from local Hyvee grocery stores. Depending on the number of lunches, basket prices range from $15 to $30. The BBQ will be available for $5. For more info check out our website @ www.uidea.com. The events main purpose is to commemorate the flood, but also to bring the community that was affected by the flood together to celebrate our progress and unity. The art festival is also a great opportunity for local artisans to showcase their works.

The SFCC (Student Flood Commemoration Committee) was founded in order to memorialize the flood of 2008. Members of the SFCC came together for the common goal of recognizing, restoring and reviving the community affected by the floods of 2008.

The Basket of Fun Fest is an event to bring the Iowa City area together for a day of unity.
