Project Summary

 We will be having a Casino Night, and all the proceeds will go to Flood Relief. We will have many different types of casino games as well as prizes. Some of the prizes will be Hawkeye apparel. We will be having a silent auction as well. Some things up for auction will include Hawkeye Football Tickets, an autographed jersey, and much more.

We will also be having food and beverages. There will be music during the whole event. There will be a Blackjack Tournament as well. We will have a special area for children to play games as well and another area for adults. This is for all age groups. We will also have speakers throughout the event to tell their stories of the flood.

Flood '09 Casino Night will be held at the IMU Main Ballroom. It's on the corner of Madison and Jefferson Street in Iowa City, IA. The event will be held on June 15th, 2009. It will start at 2pm in the afternoon and will go on till 8pm. Admission is $1 for wristbands. The casino games cost will be a minimum of $5. The silent auction will be at your discretion.

 

Flood '09 Casino Night was created to commemorate the cresting of the Flood of 2008. It was a devastating disaster that hit our community, and we were all affected by this horrible tragedy. This community has really come together to help out in any way possible. Casino Night '09 is just a chance for our community to come together for the greater good. All the proceeds made from this event will go toward helping rebuild the community.

 

Personnel: We will be having the President of the University, Sally Mason speak on behalf of the University staff and faculty. We will also be having some local residents speak on how the flood affected them and how they have worked through this devastation. Also we will have Coach Ferentz speak during this benefit.
