The River Run
Summary
Interested in supporting the victims of the flood of 2008? Come participate in a 5K run along the trails of the Iowa River. The event will take place the morning of June 15, 2009, and will be followed by a celebratory lunch at Hubbard Park. The luncheon will include vendors, a DJ, speakers from the people who were affected by the flood, as well as a presentation of a Herky statue donated to Iowa City for its efforts in the flood relief. For those who are not interested in participating in the morning run, there will also be other fun activities throughout the morning. To participate in the 5K, T-shirts will be sold for $10 with proceeds going to flood victims, and medals and prizes will be awarded to the top contestants. Anyone and everyone is welcome, so come on out for a workout, cheer on your friends, enjoy a great lunch, support your community, or just to have a good time in commemorating such a tragic event.

Join us in commemorating the flood of 2008 by participating in a 5k run! The run will begin the morning of June 15th 2009 and will follow the trails along the Iowa River. In conclusion to the main event there will be a celebratory lunch held at Hubbard Park. For those who do not participate in the morning run there will be other activities throughout the morning. Check in for the River Race will be held at 7:00 a.m
During the event we will have an autograph session with the Iowa Hawkeye football, basketball, and wrestling teams. T-shirts for the 5k run will be $10 with all the proceeds going to flood victims. We will also be awarding the top contenders with medals and other various prizes. So come support the victims of the flood, fellow volunteers, and our beloved Hawkeyes.
