The College of Direct Support (CDS) is an online, competency-based curriculum and learning management system designed to train direct support professionals who work with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The learning management system provides access to the CDS curriculum, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and allows participants to work at their own pace and monitor their own progress, while it allows managers to create programs of study, assign courses and monitor the progress of staff.
All courses align with the Community Support Skill Standards (Taylor, Bradley & Warren 1996) competency areas and statements, which also serve as the basis for the credentialing system of the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals.
The regional training program, "Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviors," was created to align with the 7-lesson, CDS module, "Positive Behavior Supports."
