This documentation covers the campus shared HPC cluster system, Argon, provided by ITS-RS (Information Technology Services – Research Services). At the present time, Argon is the only system provided. There have been more systems in the past, and may be more systems in the future. Argon is a heterogeneous system in many ways.

  1. It has a mix of systems with and without GPU accelerators
  2. There are several generations of CPU architecture
  3. There are several generations of GPU architecture

New hardware types will be added to Argon as time goes on, thus more heterogeneity. This documentation covers aspects of the system and how to interact with it. Please refer to the Argon Cluster page for detailed information on the setup of Argon. That page includes information on the queues, as well technical specifications. If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact us at research-computing@uiowa.edu.
