Encourage everyone to attend Tool Qualification! We will need as many helping hands as possible! You do not have to be directly involved in the Festival to become tool qualified.

Community members that are not University students or faculty cannot become tool qualified. However, they can help out in other ways by hanging posters around town, making lanyards and being a build / paint safety buddy. (Talk to your stage manager for more information.)

Bring your tool qualification packet with you to the training. You do not need to print any additional pages.  PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE PORTION OF THE TRAINING BEFORE YOU ATTEND THE HANDS ON SESSION. You only need to complete the training once during your time in the department.

Please direct any questions to your Stage Manager, or the Production Stage Manager, Melissa Turner at melissa-turner@uiowa.edu.

ATTN: First Timers!

YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE PORTION OF THIS TRAINING BEFORE YOU ATTEND THE HANDS ON SESSION.  DIRECTIONS FOR THE ONLINE TRAINING CAN BE FOUND ON PAGE 2 OF THE TOOL QUALIFICATION PACKET. YOU ONLY NEED TO COMPLETE THE TRAINING IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED IT WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS.

*Please note that your team has the right to publicly shame you if you have the opportunity to become tool qualified, and choose not too. During New Play Festival, we're a team, and we help each other out while being safe.
