Dear Colleagues!

In addition to funding available to you from within the School of Music, there are a variety of applications and grants for which you can apply through our student government organizations, the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) and the Executive Council of Graduate and Professional Students (ECGPS). Below is a short description of the grants currently available, as well as a link to the application and more information.

Two notes of importance:
*The evaluating committees are particularly picky about applicants following exact instructions. At each grading session, over 25% of applications are disqualified for the applicants not following directions.
**In almost all cases, the questions on these grant applications are worded with research presentation in mind. Performers, you must shape your answers accordingly – it may take a little creativity. In the past, numerous performers have had applications approved, so do not be discouraged!!

GSS Travel Grants -
These funds are available to any Graduate Student who wishes to present research, perform or compete at conferences and other events, both domestically and internationally. There are 5 deadlines that remain, with November 10 being the next.

GSS Supplemental Travel Award for Research -
Students needed to travel to complete work for a project are encouraged to apply for this grant. This grant will NOT support paper/poster presentations, workshop attendance, internship travels, service learning projects, job interviews, etc. The next deadline is November 10.

Professional Advancement Grants (PAGs) Research Grant -
A travel award for research – much like the previous grant above. The next deadline is October 7.

PAGs Professional Development Grant -
This award is intended for students attending conferences and workshops. Applications are divided into two categories: conferences and international experiences.

PAGs Travel Grant -
This serves a similar purpose and has a similar application as the GSS Travel Grant mentioned above. The next deadline is September 25.

If you have any questions regarding these, please feel free to use the contact information provided in each link. I am also willing to help direct your questions to the correct committee chair.

Thank you for your time and best wishes!!
